"You can't get the job you want."..."It's impossible to get the job you like."...."Don't be choosy lah!"..."Juz grab any job available!"..."Go work for your sis lah." People kept chanting by my ears, it sounds like a curse to me. A curse that discourage and despise me. I Hate it.

Billie, I'm sure you understand how I feel.

Another Birthday Dinner

Today's my sis mum-in-law's birthday... Happy Birthday Auntie! Went to the 'Pariss' (dunno correct spelling anot) Restaurant at Marina Square for seafood buffet dinner. The ambience of the restaurant is a very 'class' and extravagent, but the service personnels there are mostly from china and mandarin speaking. Contradicting and ironic isn't it? Hah... but however, varieties of food is plentiful but the freshness and taste of it? Sux. It doesn't worth paying for all these food at S$50+ per person. But being typical Singaporeans, the five of us ate like a pigs and gorge down any food in sight... in total we spent S$271 leh...cannot waste $$ u noe... muz eat! S$271 in exchange of dunno how many pounds of calories.. stupid us.

1..2...3...4 persons.., Who do u think is holding the camera!?

Seems like the grape my sis mum-in-law's holding fascinates her more than my Ixus 40.

Before dinner, the 3 women, ranging from age 22 - 58, went shopping. My sis mum-in-law wanted to get a pair of sunglass, so we headed to Wheelock Place to look for my hunky optician who checks my eyesight since I was in Pri 3 (not only he's gd looking, I alwaz trust his taste in choosing eyewears and offer very gd service). We stayed in the shop for more than an hour... looking at pairs after pairs of sunglasses, checked my eyesight and made my contact lenses.. but actually, i can't help but to stare at my hunky optician, some of you know who he is.. rite JinCheng?

While my sis and her mum-in-law were searching for a best pair of sunglass for my sis mum-in-law herself and my bro-in-law, a question suddenly popped into my head,

I asked my sis:"Do I need a pair of sunglass to see the midnite sun?"

haha.. I'm so smart, after asking this question, my sis offered to buy me a pair! coz I only own pasam malam pairs of sunglasses and she say it will harm the eyes as it doesn't block UV rays. Yippie! But I'm a nice sister... I said I would pay back after the trip.

My hunky optician went looking for few that suits my face-shape and he came back with 3 in a few mins. One is Christian Dior, one is Police, and another I can't remember what brand.

This is the Christian Dior pair which my hunky optician says it's very Glamorous coz there's a row of swarovski crytals on the top of the frame.

Hunky optician:"Joyce, I think this will suit you very well as you can carry the glamour of this pair"

Me:"huh? but my face so small!?"

Hunky optician:"yes, your face is not long. But you've got the features and hair volume to carry it off. It will look good on you"

oh...my god! I nearly fainted. A compliment from my hunky optician! I feel like i'm floating in the air... but well, I dun really like it and it's too exp(S$385). So i din get it.

So I tried the can't-remember-what-brand pair.. not nice, and eventually that is why I dun remember the brand. Then I tired on the Police pair. Voila! It suits me perfectly! I like the slightly translucent lens..the light-weight frame and it flatters my face shape! I intend to get this pair tho' it's not cheap too. But it's more than half the price lesser than my bro-in-law's Rudy Project(S$470),and cheaper than my sis mum-in-law's pair (can't-remember-what-brand too) which cost S$270 and my sis already owned Chanel (S$380).

Police is a famous brand from Italy juz like Rudy Project. Yup JC, incase you find Rudy Project sounds familiar, it's actually the pair which you nearly purchased that day.

Ahh...what a 'Sunglassy' Day.

Ethics

Everyone knows that you gotta be very ethical during an interview. It's a belief that you have to present yourself as a 'perfect' person with perfect answers and perfect qualifications, so that the company would hire you.

But, besides the interviewees, I guess it's also necessary for the interviewers to be ethical too. I've been to numerous job interviews and I realised that interviewers from 2 of the established organisations that I went (namely, M*d**C**p and CA*S), were very unethical and disrespectful. For godness sake! and they call themselves a HR personnel! I dun understand how they get in there in the first place. The person who interviewed them muz be blind.

To all interviewers out there who's reading my blog now, please bear in mind that we, interviewees, are not begging you for a job. We are graduates, not beggars. So, please treat us with respect. If you think we desperately need your job to survive and thus, view us as less superior than you, you are WRONG! We can jolly well work for some other companies where the interviewers give more respect to people. Think another way, your organisation needs us to contribute our effort in order for your company to progress. A company can't do without employees. Moreover, you, yourself is also an employee of the company, you don't own it and thus, you have no rights to despise us. Remembered that you were once interviewed before.

Unethical interviewers have definitely tarnished the reputation of the organisation. Hence, before the HR department start criticising the employees of the company during the appraisal period. Please take a look at yourself and reflect. Did you possess the qualities of a HR personnel? Have you forgotten that you are only working for the company? Did you show enough respect to people?

I pity these interviewers for their childishness and, myophic and shallow thinking. They are the people who's not worth hiring. Not us.

I wish these unethical and disrespectful interviewers get their retributions one day.

Just Married

This morning I attended the ROM ceremony of one my friend. Umm...strictly speaking, she's not really a friend of mine, I hardly know her. She's the daughter-in-law of my aunt's friend. I only met her once and she's real sweet to invite me to her ROM ceremony. For your info, she's younger than me, she's only 20. *Ironic, I'm 22 1/2 years old and still hanging-dangling in my love life*

I was one of the photographers for the day. Kinda worried about how the pictures will turn out to be. It's the traditional kinda film camera and I can't remember when was the last time I used this kinda cameras. I'm so spoilt by digital cameras where you can view and delete away the not-so-perfect photos that I don't feel a least confident using a film camera. Joyce suffered from camera 'cultural shock' during a ROM ceremony. Weird. But I guess the photoswill be OK coz film cameras are supposingly to be sharper than digi cams. Rite? *someone please assure this nervous freak here*

Now, enuff of photos, lets talk about flowers. U noe the hand flowers bouquet the bride suppose to throw and a bunch of crazy, can't-wait-to-marry girls gather together and pushes one another juz to snatch it?? Hah, yah..that one that one, u got it. Well, guess what? I got it todae! NO! NO! and NO! I did not desperately snatched it. It was given to me, calmly and gracefully. Why? Because..........*drum roll*.........I am the only bachelor gal there!!! My aunt's friend actually planned to give it to me earlier before they came and she told her daughter-in-law to pass it to me after the ROM Ceremony. Haha... am I suppose to feel happy and glad?

I noe when you get that flowers, you are suppose to be the next to get married. Hah, no way! Not in the near future. So pals, no worries, you still got time to save up for that angbao money ;)

Viola! Here it is - La Vie En Rose.

It's a DIY hand bouquet my auntie's friend made. It's really sweet and nice. But, I noticed a weird 'phenomenon' about the bouquet:

::It's PINK! ::
*and FYI, The bride, bridegroom, my aunt's friend and the bride's mum is wearing PINK!*

::It consists of Carnations ::
*I noe mother's day was juz 2 days ago, but... it's ROM ceremony!*

Anyhow, Best wishes to Donald & Laura.
