Can life really be simple?

It's amazing how msn conversations can inspire my blog entries.

While chatting with Guang, I am now writing down my thoughts before it slipped away.

Our conversation went on about being ambitious in life and how much we wanted to live a laid-back life. I mentioned that sometimes I wondered if we are too laid back that we refused to face the fact this is a competitive world, and we need to compete and be aggressive towards our goals, or rather, just for a comfortable life. I mentioned I do not want my life to be filled with just politics and competitions. I want something meaningful to share with my descendants when I am at my death bed.

In this 21st century, on a developed island and in a cosmopolitan city, we can't, simply can't live a simple life, ironic. I was at a seminar last week and the speaker mentioned that survey results have shown that lesser and lesser people are watching television simply because they have got no time. After a hectic day of work, people go home for dinner, spend their time with kids and hit the slumber to prepare for another day of routine. That's already a daily activity. Not much time for leisure.

Guang said we should learn to take things as it comes. We can fight for what we want but not necessarily be competitive and be too serious. Question is, can we? If we don't fight hard, can we survive? Will we be eliminated by the society?

So much so of freedom and democracy, can we really lead the way we want our life to be?

At this moment, something suddenly surfaced in my mind - 'Tuesdays with Morrie'.

Moonlight

I was looking out of my window and I saw this really huge moon that resembles an egg york beautifully hung in the sky.

I wish I have a better camera to capture it. it looks really magnificent against the dark background.

Sometimes, a quiet moment makes you realised how much you are missing out in this world. We, humans, are so tiny.

Self-denial

I have to admit it. I AM getting old. So is Mr Wood.

Went bugis this afternoon and we were quite overwhelmed by screaming kids, hyperactive teenagers and hip hop, rock, heavy metal (or whatever you call it) music blasting in the shops. I find it almost impossible to move around the shopping mall and the merchandises in Bugis no longer interest me. Too many novelty shops and street wear, but Mr Wood managed to buy a pair of pants. Hmm... he's just trying to act young lah.

However, the cinema in Bugis is quite a mis-matched. I went there to watch 'Step up 2' the other day and the cinema is pretty old and rundown, not as hip and young which Bugis supposed to be. It is time for them to revamp the cinema.

Alright. When Mr Wood and I felt like a misfit in Bugis, we headed to Shaw for a quite dinner. *phew* finally, some peace and more oxygen. We still ended up at Millenia Walk eventually. So much so of trying to get out of that place.

This is me. Ahhh.... My kind of place. Quite and cozy, a cuppa hot coffee and magazines. I felt my soul being revitalised and calmed. I'm a happier person here.

I hate to admite it. But yeah, at the age of 25, I am old. I no longer fit in the days of squeezing through crowds and shop and hang out like there's no tomorrow. Well, on the brighter side, I'm more in charged of my life now.
